Workspace Expansion for LadBible

In October 2023, Quay Build commissioned Voltari on behalf of LadBible, a leading global digital media company, to address their urgent need for workspace expansion due to rapid growth.

Initially tasked with installing additional power outlets for expanding workspaces on the already outgrown third floor, the project scope quickly expanded to include the fourth and fifth floors, and work is currently underway on the first floor.

Client Challenges

LadBible faced a significant challenge with their rapid expansion. They had outgrown their existing space and were under time pressure to accommodate new starters joining the business. The need for a quick and efficient expansion was crucial to maintaining their operational momentum and accommodating their growing team.

1. Complex Space: The rooms designated for expansion were of an odd shape and had uneven levels, posing significant layout and design challenges.

2. Tight Schedule: The client's urgent need for additional space meant that work had to be completed within a tight timeline. This was further complicated by the need to minimise disruption to the existing workforce, requiring work to be conducted over weekends.

Solutions Implemented

To overcome these challenges, Voltari employed several strategies:

1. Collaborative Planning: Working closely with the client, Voltari developed a layout that efficiently utilised the unique space of the repurposed brownfield site, ensuring the new work areas were functional and well-integrated.

2. Flexible Scheduling: To meet the client's timeline and minimise operational disruptions, Voltari’s team worked weekends, ensuring a timely handover of the expanded workspaces.

3. Comprehensive Expansion Work: Beyond the initial request for power outlets, the project scope expanded to include:

- Lighting: Selection and installation of lighting to match the existing setup, based on a catalogue provided to the client for choice.

- Communications: Installation of a full new circuit and a dedicated power supply for the communications cabinet to support the company's IT infrastructure.

- Kitchen Areas: Installation of kitchen amenities including a hydro-boiler tap, a fridge, and general outlets on both the fourth and fifth floors to create a comfortable and functional space for staff.
