York Street, Stockport Homes

the challenge

the outcome

This four-month project aimed to modernise energy systems within the property. As an experienced electrical contractor, we installed new power supplies for heat interface units and programmable thermostats. Partway through the project, an additional requirement was introduced: the design and installation of energy billing meters.

Our work met technical demands and played a crucial role in enhancing energy efficiency and tenant experience. The successful completion of this project underscores Voltari’s expertise and commitment to tailoring solutions.

Client Challenges

Stockport Homes faced several key challenges during this project:

  • Programme scheduling: With multiple contractors involved, ensuring a coordinated timeline was critical.
  • Access to properties: Gaining access to tenants’ homes for electrical installations while minimising disruption posed logistical difficulties.
  • Tenant liaison: Clear and consistent communication was essential to maintain tenant satisfaction and reduce resistance to access.

Our Challenges

While delivering the project, Voltari encountered:

  • Diverse flat configurations: Each property required customised wiring designs to accommodate unique layouts.
  • Inconsistent existing installations: Variations in manufacturers’ equipment necessitated bespoke solutions for compatibility.
  • Access issues: Limited tenant availability added complexity to scheduling and required ongoing flexibility.

Solutions Implemented

Voltari adopted a proactive and flexible approach to overcome these challenges:

1. Regular Team Briefings

Weekly meetings were held to discuss installation designs and address performance issues. This allowed the team to adapt quickly to the diverse flat configurations and refine wiring designs as needed.

2. Tenant Liaison Collaboration

Close collaboration with the tenant liaison officer enabled us to understand tenants’ availability and rearrange schedules efficiently. This ensured minimal disruption and maintained strong tenant relations.

3. Strategic Equipment Sourcing

We sourced compatible equipment from multiple wholesalers to address compatibility challenges posed by different manufacturers’ systems. This ensured seamless integration with existing electrical installations.

These solutions ensured that we met project objectives while maintaining high levels of professionalism and tenant satisfaction.

Despite diverse flat configurations, tenant coordination hurdles, and sourcing obstacles, we successfully delivered on all project objectives. By installing power supplies, programmable thermostats, and energy billing meters, we enhanced the energy efficiency and comfort of the properties.
